Iam new to this site and new to tropical plants. I live in oklahoma and would like to grow some banana and palm plants. My patio is north facing and shaded. I would rather plant them in containers. I need all the advice that I can get. I dont want to try and grow them and not be successful. I hate it when a plant dies, so I'd rather not try to grow them if I dont have the right conditions for them.

Hi, Please can you give me what is the type of weather you have in you country. I like to know the seasons, like, how many worm months, and how many cold months, the max and min temp of these months. Also, about the humidity. This will let me figure out if your place is good to grow bananas. Because the banana can grow in tropical and in subtropical places, we have to see if the weather at your place is close to them. Take care. Bye

North side and shaded? Not going to be happy under those conditions as they do require at least six hours of direct sun to do well.
Make your words soft and sweet; you just may have to eat them someday.

Nothing is difficult to do, you can figure out a way, try to build a small green house, and install light in it, like what they do for chrysanthemums (cut flowers grown in green houses) for example they increase the day light by installing day light lamps to increase the number of day light hours especially in short days.
This might be difficult but it could work.
