Hello, this message is assuming I ever get my M. Sikkimensis to sprout!
The question is, are there any danger to banana plants, at any stage, to rabbits or deer or any other critter like that (excluding insects). I am in Z5b in southern Massachusetts, and am looking forward to creating a whole tropical bed this spring (bananas, cannas, oter unusual tropicals I can find), but it just occurred to me that these things might be delicassies for the woodland creatures. Any experience with this? Any remedies?
Thanks

Ha Ha, eat the leaves you say, well one deer must have had one bite of my Musa basjoo, and couldn't stop eating. It ate it to the ground trunk and all. Montyburns- I was having trouble starting my M.sikkeminsis seeds too until I read that they need a 30-40 degree(farinheight) daily temp fluctuation, and after a year of waiting, I put a timer on my heat mat and it did the trick. I'm still waiting to see if they will have any wine stain pattern on the top of the leaf. Watch out for those naner loving deer(and monkeys if you got them)!
