We planted banana trees, I don't know what kind, along our driveway. Well, now we would like to widen the driveway but need some of the banana trees gone. They are so hard to get rid of. How do we get the one we pull out not to come back?

I would try round-up (glyphosate) herbicide - assuming the local laws permit it. Just be sure to follow the instructions on the container and give the herbicide a few days to work its way down to the roots/rhizomes before you remove the plants. Glyphosate goes to and kills actively growing plant tissue, so it won't work well if you chop the plants down immediately after spraying.

Please note that this is just what I would try - I don't know for sure if it will work as I've never attempted to kill banana trees before. Also, round-up kills pretty much any plant it touches - so don't let it drift or drip onto any plants that you don't want to kill.

Thx much spectrum. I appreciate it, we love the privacy it provides from the neighbors, but, we really need a bigger driveway.

I would ask my neighbors if they wanted to dig them up and move them before I killed them. Just have whoever does it fill the holes with topsoil.
