HELP!!!!! I was given two beautiful banana trees this last weekend, (Florida), and I brought them home and planted them. Unfortunately, they ended up getting injured and the rope holding them creased the trunk and leaves. All of the leaves have bent and obviously are not in any shape to even consider trying to splint them back into position. I would like to just cut the entire top off the tree, but I'm afraid that will absolutely KILL the entire tree. WHAT CAN I DO? I Think (?), that I must remove the dying leaves - but will leaving them on the tree do any good? Each tree is about 8"-12" in diameter, and at least 10-12 feet tall., The damage is around the 8' mark. Please advise, thanks I have recently aquired 2 Large Banana Trees. I brought them home and planted them. However the leaves all bent and I'm not able to support them. How can I ensure that the trees will live? I live in Florida, Please advise

interested in hearing what you ended up doing and how they are doing. my boxer pup chewed on the top of my 3ft basjo, i ended up cutting it off right below the damage. it is doing good, but looking back i think i should have cut the stalk layer by layer untill the damage was gone. do it different next time i will.

I've just left the trees alone. The foliage has turned brown and only a little bit of green remains. There are no entended banana branches so I've been watering the trees and I've fertilized and mulched. Soon, I'll remove the dead branches and determine if there is any active growth at the top. I'm assuming that because of the remaining green leaves (even though they are not extended), that there must be life remaining in the tree's. Wish me luck. Thanks for asking.
