Re-landscaping golf course, if soil is put about 2 feet up the bark of a palm tree, will it smother the tree? or will it be ok. I believe it will be fine, in my own yard i've had a tree do fine when the bark was buried to a higher point than originally.

It will smother the roots & eventually kill the tree.
