Trying to grow a potted banana tree

Help! I just moved and got a potted banana plant that was already in the apartment. It's beautiful and I'm trying to take care of it, but noticed that now there is a fungus/insect/whatever eating the plant. It forms something that looks like white dots all over the leaves. I travelled for a week and notice it proliferated when I came back. Full of this stuff, especially underneath the leaves. I have been removing them with a damp cloth, but need recommendation of what product to use (spray or natural). Any tips? Help!

Sounds like you have aphids. Read once in a magazine to use a solution of Dawn dishwashing liquid and water. Spray with spray bottle under leaves.
Has worked for me on tomato plants.

Sounds to me more liked armoured scales like I had on my plant. However I did nothing about them because of the fact the banana plant was an ornamental and did not mean a whole to me. If you want to save your plant I suggest your check out htis link and take action. Best of luck to you. P.S. I found this information through alot of searching to find out what was wrong with my plant. I was determined to find out if it was something I was or was not doing. And after my resaerch I found that the pup that was shipped to me was infested with them early on and i was not aware of it. So again best of luck to you !!

this was the problem i was having with my banana plant. It ended up dying. I read somewhere that a mixture of 50% antifreeze and 50% water soution will kill off the fungus. Best of luck, will your banana tree live long and prosper!
