I live in Central Texas and have one enormous regular banana tree that gets little love but has no problems. There are/were also three thriving medium size red banana trees in a separate, well-tended garden that gets water from the sprinkler system. In three years they have been lopped off each 'winter' but each year have grown back smaller. This year one is only 2 feet tall and another only about 4 feet; when I inherited them, I had to cut them back because they got to be about 10 feet tall and leaves would obscure my walkway! What am I doing wrong... they just aren't growing like they were. And one just did not come back this year. Should I fertilize, water more... what do they want from me?!
