Hello Peggy,
I too am in zone 6. Indiana. I'm currently growing about 8 varieties of bananas from seed. i am cheating though, I built a 1200 sq ft greenhouse last year. Makes it a lot easier to handle the tropicals. =).

I would love to post a few pics of the different bananas and palms I do have growing here but I have no idea how to do that.

Aha I would love to see a pic of that... I lost one of my nanner trees...it was the Maurelli / Ensete maurelli I loved that one... Does anyone on here have any pups of this one... I would sure love to replace it... I will have musella lasiocarpa pups for trade... but I have never detached pups from this one before...there are nine attached to mother plant...a few of them are about three ft... If anyone knows I would sure appreciate info... Peggy

I just use a sharp knife to remove pups, but if they are three ft tall you may need something a little stronger.
