Just wondering if there is any type of palm that will grow in zone 7 without getting real beat up by the cold? If there is how many different kind do you think would survive in these tempatures? I'm thinking if I use some kind of winter protection that it would greatly increase the odds of a couple palm trees making through old man winter? Maybe cyacds would put up with the cold better? Anybody got some ideas are comments to put me on the right path? Thanks Joan I have banana and palm trees for trade.

Hi Joan love you smile! I have a couple palm species in mind, but I'm no palm expert by any stretch on the irrigation. Trachies Needles, scientific name Chamerops Humilis (European Fan Palm), Afghani palm These would still need cold protection most likely to be long term survivors.

Here's a few more to wet your appiete Miss Joany! These suckers will put up with some pretty nasty temps, of course you'll want to use some protection while palms are young and not so tuff yet. Brahea armata Butia capitata Chamaerops humilis Phoenix dactylifrea Rhapidophyllum hystrix Sabal minor Sabal louisiana Sabal mexicana Sabal palmetto Trachcapus fortunei Washingtonia filifera Washingtonia robusta

Cycas panzihuaensis is one of the more hardy Cycads ityou wanted to get into that, but I'm leaning towards some of the palms being hardier?
