I don't think I have ever seen bromeliads for sale here. There are a lot of really sharp ones available. It is all about knowing a lot of sources and good timing. It took me several years to finally get an Aechmea 'Blue Tango' ...but it was worth the wait. Tell me the 8 that you liked and I can tell you if I have ever seen them for sale.

No, I never tried to plant pomegranate.

Take care.

there were soooo many. aechmea andersonii. aechmea beeriana. aechmea biflora. puya alpestris. puya angusta.puya weddelliana. bromelia alsodes. bromelia pinguin. these are just a few. lol. i had a hard time trying to decide on the ones that i would like to have. like you i have limited space, and im fastlly approaching the limit. i have got to get a table to put in here, i have macrame plant hangers i need to put up to get my philedendrons put up. i might be able to "squeeze" maybe 8-10 small plants in here, or maybe 4 big ones. if you know which ones are avaliabe to the public or a good place to get a few small ones id appriciate it. you treat the bromiliads like cactus right? same water requirements and light? the fertilizer like a miricle grow half strength, or can you feed them organic like shredded cabbage, shredded fresh spinach, like i do my nanas? ill look online to see what i can find out.. thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!

One place i would recommend is tropiflora.com. They usually have some nice plants available and you can always ask them for specific plants to see if they may have one.

Bromeliad like bright indirect light. They like to get wet ..then dry out. I water mine more often than i would cacti or succulents. Some bromeliads like pineapple can tolerate full sun.

I use a weak fertilizer every time I water through spring, summer and fall. Within a few weeks I will quit fertilizing until feb or march.

Here is a decent link for sources in the us for Bromeliads.

One thing I might mention from looking at a few in your list. Some of the plants like Bromelia pinguin, you might want to be careful of. Some bromeliads have extremely nasty leaves. Check this out

I have many plants like these =) but my wife hates them.

Take care.

hey thats great. i saw the razors on the pinguin, it does have nasty leaves, however i think it might be worth it. i take it your wife has gotten bit by the plant? to make her feel better tell her thats how it shows it love. i think that the flower on the plant would be enough to make every cut ok. MY OPINION! im gonna check out the site and see what they have. cant get some till after the first of the year just trying to do a little pre-shopping..i had one bromiliad it was the kind they had a walmart. my mom got it for me and it had already bloomed and threw one pup, before i could move the pup it just up and died. i couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. i must not of had it in enough sun. im gonna try again. thank you very much. hope your wife dosent have anymore bad experiences with your plants.

Most likely an Aechmea fasicata. Commonly known as a Silver vase.
