I hear you on that one!
The plant is in the soil that it came in. I was given the tree as a gift from a horticulturalist friend who grows bananas for resale. I'm assuming the soil is ok. If not, suggestions? I used to grow them in a mix of clay/sandy soil that was pretty wild.
Mites, as of yesterday ok.
Water, every two weeks or so. Mist the leaves twice a day.
The banana is in a large room in front of a 10 x 6 window that faces SW. There is a humidifier in this room for the banana.
Thanks for all of your help everyone!

i use one 2 cubic ft. bag of miricle gro potting MIX, one 8 qt. bag of perilite, and a 8 qt bag of cactus and citrus mix. mix it all together and pot your tree. the only time you really need to water the tree is when you stick your finger into the dirt 2 inches and its dry. if its moist do not water it. i have 22 nanas in a room with my other plants and i get the occasional spider mites, and i have over watered my nanas. its ok, it is just a learning experience. if at first you dont succede, there is always a green house willing to sell you another nana tree. my first nana tree died too, i over watered it. i was so dissapointed i havent even checked on the crom. maybe hell come back, maybe he wont. but the education i got from him dying will stay with me the rest of my nana growing experience. youmay have to change his dirt. everytime i get a new nana it gets the old dirt removed and washed off and gets new dirt. just a suggestion.

Kgribauval, from what you say, It probably seriously needs to get out that pot! I mix miracle grow potting soil, play sand, perlite, peatmoss, vermiculite if you have it. I mix that all up, then i pot up my baby. Oh...I mix some milorganite in mine. I like that stuff! Water it well, then i wait till its half a finger dry before i water again. I keep a bottle of spring water with a very small amount of miracle grow added with milorganite when they need it. But I want to pick up on mskitty's idea of the organic mixture of produce. Her mixture appeals to me. I 'll probably do an experiment with her organic mix and my mix to see, if any noticeable differences. Cincygirl Quote:

Thanks for the soil advice. Now I will have something to do this weekend! I honestly am not sure what the soil mixture is.....definately not what I used when I was growing them as a crop. I really appreciate everyone's help.
