We live in Oakland, CA and have three recently planted banana trees that are supposed to make edible fruit. I don't know what kind they are. They are planted in a courtyard next to a very white wall and the weather has been unseasonably hot. They are in great soil with a mulch covering and all of the leaves have died and the new ones look burned before they have unfurled. Are we doing something wrong or do they just need time to grow accustomed to their new home? I am concerned that the reflectiveness of the walls might be burning all of the new leaves, but am hoping it's not the issue. Thanks, we appreciate any help.

Sounds like sunburn.

What happened to them?
