today I was cutting back some dead banana leaves and not judging the sharpness of my machete, cut into the trunk of the plant a little more than 1/4 inch deep, to the smoother, reddish- pink inside. I wondered if I should patch the wound with something? Anything to prevent killing the tree. any suggestions?
