My banana trees are covered with what appears to be a flying insect. Looks like a lightning bug that you catch at night. Can any one help me. What are they. Dangerous to the plant. ECT....................

Any answer on the BUGS??? I have the exact critters on mine trees. They seem to getting the juice.

I believe the insect that you are seeing is the box elder bug. We have them in my neighborhood in Virginia and they can get to be quite a pest, getting in the house over the winter. Here is a website with info and a picture: http://unexco.com/boxelder.htmlAs the website says, they are attracted to maple trees (which surround out house). They will live in the brickwork of old buildings (the church across the street). Hope this helps you.
