I'm growing four christmas palms from seed. All of them sprouted around 4-18-08 and each of them have two large leaves and range from 4-6 inches tall. My question is when should I fertilize them, and if anyone has any good palm fertilizers they would recommend, and how much I should use at this point. Thanks so much.

After several years of starting palms from seed. I find that Liquid houseplant food once a mo. untill you set them out works great. L S U Dept. of Ag. tell me that it is important NOT to feed them when planting them outside the first year. Starting year two I find that they do great on furit tree spikes given in the fist spring. With small trees I break the spikes up and put parts of the spike in the ground the tree about 1/4 spike per 1 ft. tree.

I have some Phoenix canariensis three old that are over 8 ft. tall with this treatment.
