This is my second year of growing unknown species of banana tree in Jacksonville, FL. This long purple flower (?) looking thing was just discovered hiding behind some leaves. I had one of these on a tree last year and nothing ever happened other than it kept getting longer and then dried up. I took a pix of it this morning but can't find a way to insert it into this post (how do I do that?). What am I looking at and now what?

Have you looked on the intranet? Ha ha. There is all kinds of information on the bloom you are looking at. That's what makes the fruit.
