Wait... I don't have a picture of it now, and it died. But I saw the same plant near our home. It looks like a dwarf, its pseudostem is reddish, it is only 5+ feet tall and the bunch is almost touching the ground. It has several suckers.

I think the banana plant needed some more space. Try planting it on the ground. The suckers are doing great! Anything happening?

I have a 3-feet-tall banana plant at our backyard. It is very healthy and it has very wide leaves. It already has one small sucker. The plant is almost 4 months and I'm giving it plenty of water, fertilizer and sunshine (of course it already shaded our backyard garden). My question is, how am I going to manage my banana plant if the roots are already popping out the soil, red ants are feeding on the petiole of the foliage and I'm scared for my banana to get the banana bunchy top virus!! How am I going to do this???
Thanks for your help...

It's the male flower bract. The reddish bracts are needed to protect the female flowers inside it. Once the bracts open, the female flowers start to form the hands and the bracts just dry back. If the flower head is not producing any alive hands, it should be cut off 3 days after the emergence of the last hand so that the energy will go to the fruits in no time.
Thanks

I think the dried and fully brown leaves are surely dead. Suppose you could cut off the dried leaves and the half brown ones should be left alone. I think it will be alive soon.
Thanks

Is this a duplicated reply?

To post it here, look for a website that can host you picture, sign in and copy paste the URL of the photo.
I think the plant is lacking of water or too much fertilizer.

Okay then. But... Do not just kill them. wait for some more suckers to grow. If you killed all of them, you might think your banana will not send out more suckers anymore. Send me a picture of you whole plant. Thanks (this message is for TheMoose)

EEHHH... I don't think those are really sword suckers. They have wide leaves and... is the variety dwarf?

I think it is really sick and I think it has a dreadful disease. I only hope.

But now, it's 1 and one half high and it got one sucker. The red paint markings are gone. What is it?

I think it's just fine now.

High humidity will hasten their growth. Hey! You're good! I haven't harvested a single bunch.

That's fine. Just get those with wide leaves and keep the sword suckers. Just don't panic.

I think your soil is not even favorable for the banana plant.

Are you sure the leaves are destroyed by the sun? Maybe the leaves are just shocked and will be established for some time. You can just wait for the plant to flower. If it is just 2ft. high, it would take at least 8 months 'till flowering.
Thanks.

Oookkkaaayyy... I see you've got so many suckers there. Therefore, you should remove all the water suckers and kill it. This is the only way to keep your banana plants healthy. Transplant one of the sword suckers you've got there. Only leave one to be a follower.
Thanks.

I also tried this. Someone gave a native banana sucker to me. It is red, but gave to me just a little corm, with a small round bud and have NO roots. I just planted it in the ground, exposing the bud. After 2 weeks, it started to pop out small leaflets. After 1 month, it's now a new sucker. If a sucker has no roots yet, they could still grow.
Thanks
