Hi we have a plant nursery in the North Of Wales on the Isle Of Anglesey and I have noticed that a lot of people in the uk have problems keeping their bananas from dying back to the ground in the winter. I have found that straw and chicken wire works well for us as we also use for the Tree Ferns, as we leave a lot of Banana plants out during the Winter months and have used this method with great success, Does anyone else have any different suggestions?

Hi
The babies as you call them are called pups!! leave them on the plant untill approx 8 inches tall then they can be cut off of the parent plant with a knife I find a bread knife is good for this and then re pot them on their own.
As for your banana having a flower it will not now die so dont worry.
