In some fruit trees, we should start from especial rootstock. Like avocado, mangoes, they are better grown when grafted on rootstock.

Yes, I forgot
13-0-46 is the potassium nitrate.
13 for the N = nitrogen
0 for the phosphorous = which means this fertilizer do not contain phosphorus.
46 for the K = potassium.

Yes, no need to be afraid. It happens a lot in subtropical area, and in calcareous soils, or irrigating with water of high pH.

Mulch, could work, but if we mix it with manure, it will work better, because it will increase the temperature around the root zone.

That was, just an idea, because I am not sure how much the temperature stays at zero in that area.

Temperature plays a big factor in the germination time, most seeds prefer to germinate at a temperature between 22 to 27 degrees Celsius, higher temperature can destroy the seeds, while lower (<22 degrees) temperature can slow there germination.

You are absolutely right, I have a net house where I plant my commercial banana pants to produce fruit (bunches), I installed over head sprinklers to increase humidity, because banana likes humidity a lot.

In you case, the banana plant will not flower, and every summer you should plant a new plant, because it will die in winter, in your case. Banana tree is tropical, and can not with stand freezing temperatures.

Nothing is difficult to do, you can figure out a way, try to build a small green house, and install light in it, like what they do for chrysanthemums (cut flowers grown in green houses) for example they increase the day light by installing day light lamps to increase the number of day light hours especially in short days.

This might be difficult but it could work.

I have pictures of banana bunches, which I produce, that weighs more than 60 kg per bunch, I will try to figure out a way to post them.

Any one knows how?

bob

No problem,

May be you are right, but the idea is no one cares about wild varieties; it is only needed in breeders companies where they use it in preparing new verities.

Now tissue culture plants and tissue culture labs is a very good business by the way.
What do think?

Root stock is very important when you want to start a small fruit plant, try to identify the ecosystem, and search for the best rootstock that suits the climatic, soil, diseases present in your area, all the ecosystem analysis should be done, this will help.

Although the lemon and the orange plants are subtropical, but I did not know what you mean, you chilled the plants.

By the way, usually citrus plants have different root stocks; do you know which root stock you had chosen before you planted them?

Are your plants in pots or in the ground? What is the type of soil?

Thank you.

I do not know if we could start the banana from a seed, actually it is difficult to extract the seeds from the fruit, but if someone did the seed removal, I think it would be a great idea to try some seeds.

But as long as I know, banana fruits do not need a polinizer to fertilize the flower = no seeds, there are something mysterious about the banana, is how it can fertilize its fruits?
That let me agree, may be the seeds are sterile.
