Arachnid, I have always been interested in staghorn ferns. Is it better to mount the plant on driftwood or is any screened spagnum moss thingy ok.

Good morning Everyone! Cookiecows Iam wanting to try that set-up. I'll buy one (maybe) to see how it works! But ive been all over the web to see if i can make one without buying the one i saw! Afterall its only buckets, water, pump, and somekind of light weight stone(lava rocks?).
My son told me about a shop in kentucky(newport or covington) that is a complete hydroponic/aquaponic store. gonna have to check them out.
It just might work with the bananas! Iam a lil' apprehensive too; but curious!

Kgribauval, from what you say, It probably seriously needs to get out that pot! I mix miracle grow potting soil, play sand, perlite, peatmoss, vermiculite if you have it.
I mix that all up, then i pot up my baby. Oh...I mix some milorganite in mine. I like that stuff!
Water it well, then i wait till its half a finger dry before i water again. I keep a bottle of spring water with a very small amount of miracle grow added with milorganite when they need it.
But I want to pick up on mskitty's idea of the organic mixture of produce. Her mixture appeals to me. I 'll probably do an experiment with her organic mix and my mix to see, if any noticeable differences. Cincygirl

I agreed. I would move the banana to another part of your yard. and amend the soil. Probably be your best bet. Your pups will probably do better also. Have you ever separated a pup and potted it up?.........Cincygirl
