Hey Kitty, What's shakin. I see a few of us have ventured to new territory.
Can you say, Siam Ruby?
Probably pests. Mine have gotten various one's in the greenhouse. Spidermite, Whiteflies, Mealibugs. But I'd be careful fertalizer this early. And easy on the water, they don't need much in Feb.-Nate

New here and wanted to say hello to everyone. Avid nana grower but new to palms. Hope to learn more about bananas and make afew new friends!-Nate
Are they getting enough water? I know here in Kansas right now its 103 and I drench mine everyday. Not trying to be smart but they are pretty easy to grow. A lot of sun and a lot of water. Fertalizer will help but grown in decent soil they can hit 6-8ft easy. Did you trasplant them correctly and when did you transplant them? Spring is the best time so the roots can establish. Let me know.
Gale, Sounds like an awesome garden, some of my favorite plants!! I would suggest basjoo banana cause you just chop em down and they come back. I am also in zone 6. Winter the Plumaria in your house.
Most Bananas will not be hardy to your area but if you winter them, on there 3rd year they should flower. We get em to flower in Kansas anyway. Basjoo's are easy cause at the end of the year you just chop em, mulch em, and they come back in spring.
The Ele Ele(Black Hawaiian) is known to be the biggest. Its a musa, hardy to zones 8-10. It can get as tall as 25 Ft. It is native to Hawaii and known for the black blotches on its pseudostem.
Can anyone tell me why my red ab. is shootin craps? I bought it at local nursery and it did good for about a week but now the leaves are dying off and turning yellow and brown on the edges. Some of the leaves are even bending in half but she has added several leaves since I got her. She is well taken care of and I' m not new to nanas but this is my first esente. My other 15 nanas are doing great and recieve the same care. I went to my friends house the other day and his is doing the same thing. He suggested less sun but I'm not sure. Maybe a disease? They are in good organic soil and get all the sun and water they need. Does this plant require special care? Any knowledge would be greatlly appreciated!
