Thanks...I'll be patient. I just wanted to make sure there weren't any measures I should take so I didn't lose the plant altogether. The sucker is almost 1ft. I got scared b/c there is substantial trunk damage. We'll see.

I am new to this forum and to banana trees. I have a red banana, it has done very well for 3 months now. It is about 4 ft. This morning I woke up and it was knocked over. My dog decided to "play" with it. She tore up all the leaves, and parts of the trunk look like peeled celery. I cut off the eaten leaves, and trimmed down the parts that were peeled on the trunk. Do I wait and see what happens, or should I cut it all the way down and start over. I also have one new shoot that is growing at the base, can I replant that in another container?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
