Ms Kitty I want to see pictures of that banana jungle you are living in. do you have any? I have a visitors photo album you can upload to on my blog . or just post it here but either way it sounds fabulous. I have it so easy were I live. I have much respect for what it must take for you to keep all your babies happy during your winter months. Good Luck on your planting!

Ms Kitty the count down is only 4 1/2 weeks away. How many are you putting in? What kind? How big? Are you going to get any nanas this season?

General Discussions. » Should you remove burnt leaves Feb 4, 2008 09:53 PM (Total replies: 3)

I live in S FL and we did have a noght of freezing weather a few weeks ago. I finally saw what can happen to my babies if not covered well. Should you cut off the burnt leaves if some of the leaf is still green. and also at what point should i remove a dead leaf. or should i not remove it and let gravity take care of it.
thanks brandankinfortpiercefl

Welcome, Well i am fairly new to it but have about 8 months under my belt w/ my bananas i am in s. fl with no cold but i have my first bananas suckers coming off of my ice cream banana. I asked the guy i bought them from about suckers and he told me to leave them be until the stalks are appx. 1" thick or more and then remove them from their mother. Mine were skinny for several months and then shed these leaves the other day and BAM i have 3 little banana trees now. Still don't have the specifics on seperating from the mom and hopefully someone else can fill us in from there.

I started a blog on my yard and trials in germinating seeds and growing all different types of palms and plants. I am very new to this so any tips are appreciated. So here is the link.
