I know.. I really wanted to go. But I'll see you soon after you get back as I've got to go down to GA. Congrats on your new pup and hope you're feeling better. Lynn I hope your weather lets up so you can go!!
I'm not going to be able to make it down there. Will have to take a rain check and shoot for next year.

I can't wait to see how your basjoo made it through winter also! Ric is only interested in the ornamental nanas that can be perennials and is ok with having to protect them during winter but doesn't have the desire to have fruit like I do. He wants his bath tub back in the winter!
hahaha ...
Good idea to water only half with pond water! I'll do that.
I was reading about the speakers and trying to figure out what day I wanted to go on! I was telling Ric about it. So far I've gotten a non commital grunt. I was hoping that I'd see something having to do with aquaponics or even hydroponics as then he'd be more interested. Let me know if you think you might make it on the 28th Sam! I'd like to go on the first day also. I'll be the one walking around with the notepad.
Nice to meet you arachnid .. I would love to see your green house!

Forgot about the filter on the aquarium ... I guess that would filter out all the goodies that the bacteria makes.. like nitrates so didn't get any water from there. I guess if it was set up to be filtering through a gravel bed then the water would be good. Our fish cage came today! We'll put it on a rope and sink it to the bottom of the pond and then pull it back up a little later to see our catch for the fish tanks. Not ready to go fishing quite yet though.
We have a heifer missing!! Coyotees are really out too. You can hear them. Ric looked for her for hours today and will look again tomorrow. Talked to all the neighbors. Will email you about freezer beef mskitty. What're you up to mg? Grandaughter and youngest daughter came over today wanting to plant some flower seeds as I still have all my mess on the dining table. I threw some artichoke seeds I have from last year in a couple pots too.
Off to bed I go ... night night Sam and Lynn Deb
No he didn't go get water for me. He slept most of the day. I'm just going to take it out of the aquarium. I've got a 75gal. aquarium in the living room that I told my daughter she could have as I got tired of taking care of it. We've always had animals of all sorts, fish and birds and I'm just tired of it all. Now I'm sort of wishing I hadn't given it away though as I'm looking at it in a whole new light ... like a grow light and trays or pots of whatever I want to grow hooked up to it. I guess that wouldn't look good in the living room. Actually Lynn you could hook a pot up to your aquarium to put a nana in. LOL That might not go well with your decor though.
Well I have the table cleared off and brought the nanas out to work on and have some other things I need to transplant too. Also going to get a couple trays of salad vege seeds sowed. Talk to you later!

Lynn... I'll see if Ric can help you out with info so maybe you can use what you have at home with minimal purchases from maybe Lowes or Home Depot? Deb
My baby, no-name orinocos wanted to say hi to Oscar and tell him he's lucky to have a better mom than they have.... they're still itching with those mites... YES.. going in the kitchen and taking care of it NOW!!
Banana hugs! Deb
Welcome JB! I'm new to this too. Bananas and this forum too. How awesome that you are getting pups. I can't wait for that day! Good luck!
Cincy.. you are one brave nana lady if you go hydroponically with a banana plant! I'm not sure but maybe you'll be among the pioneers?! Are you still thinking about that setup?
Big banana hugs all around! Deb
MsKitty you know I'd love to have one and you don't have to ship. I'll be down off and on. I've got to quit staying up so late. I ordered a Saba and a Basjoo. Hope the Saba pups for me cause I need a group of the tall ones. I have this friend that likes to hang around watching, like a spider monkey ..............
Nope I haven't figured out the picture thing yet Lynn. Oh gosh I hope it's not just photo bucket. I want them in the threads.
I better get to bed. It's 1:30AM and I need to get up early. I'm going to go get some water from the pond to water the plants inside and see how they do since we'll soon be using that water to water the garden on the deck. OK.. THAT'S A LIE ....... I'm going to have Ric go get the pond water for me!! Deb
Is that you Lynn???
Well HEY back!!! Glad I logged on!! YEAH... I love to share!! I'll have something to share... LOL ... I'll find something Aquaponics set up took a little break today but at least it didn't blow away last night. SAM how did school go and I hope you had no damage down your way.
My Orinoco pups are getting a shower tomorrow after we blast those mites. Ok.. going to go look around this forum and see what trouble I can get into! JUST KIDDING.
Deb
Junk is what you throw away three weeks before you need it.
Hi! I'm from So. Central Kentucky. I'm new to bananas and only have two Dwarf Orinoco pups right now. I'm planning on having more varieties of banana and tropicals in general by the time spring arrives.
I'm REALLY excited about being able to have my own little tropical paradise in my yard. We just started putting up an aquaponics set up on our back deck with the plan of the fish tanks sitting on the ground beside it and I would like to plant some musa basjoo around the fish tanks to shade the fish in summer and hide the walls of the tanks with some landscaping.
Looking forward to learing alot and meeting new people.
Deb
I've never grown bamboo but have some moso seeds that I'm going to cross my fingers over! Will be reading up on it soon also. If I can get them to sprout my plan is to keep them in pots for as long as possible. I live in south central kentucky about a half hour from the Tenn. border. I seem to be in a little pocket of zone 7.
