We've had quite a few trees get tiny bananas and yes, the flowers do fall off. If you cut off the flower there will be no bananas and I imagine the tree will die faster... once the bananas mature unfortunately the tree is going to die anyway.
Right now I've got 3 trees that are 2 years old with bananas that are about 6 inches in length!! I think we might get some actual bananas this year!
The soup, yeah - ewww! I'll post some pics later this week, you guys gotta see these trees!
We have lots of HUGE banana trees in our backyard and the 2 largest ones are getting a flower. We've had several trees flower and die - if we cut off the bloom will the tree survive another season?
My husband is freaking out, he loves the way everything looks and it will take years for the other trees to get this large (unless they bloom!). Any advice is appreciated. :)) Diane
