General Discussions. » Banana Tree Emergency... Apr 4, 2006 07:34 PM (Total replies: 1)

I have (had) a four-five foot tall Musa Basjoo in Southern California. It had gone dormant over the winter and dropped all of it's leaves - thinking that it was dead my gardner pulled it from the ground and threw it away. I came home to find it missing and discovered it in my yard waste garbage can covered with lawn clippings. It still has a rootball aprox 8-10 inches around that was still moist when I discovered it.

I've placed it back in the ground hoping that it might survive - I also spoke with my gardner who'll be replacing the tree. Anyone have this happen to them? Am I crazy to put it back in the ground - should I let it go with the trash? Any experience/incite appreciated.
