If you mean the Central Valley of CA (Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield, etc) and your banana is one of the red types then they're probably dead. You could try cutting down to see if you hit some healthy looking tissue and then watch it to see if it pushes up in the center over the next few days. I had two large clump with 5-6 8 inch diameter stalks, I wrapped C9 christmas lights around them and covered them with sheets but it didn't help. They're gone. The one glimmer of hop I see is that a small offshot is starting from one of the large corms and I did cut off one plant to take indoors last fall. good luck with yours, next year I'm digging them up and storing them in the garage for the winter. Damn global warming hasn't made it to California yet and there are more beleiver here than anywhere else.
I can't figure out what's wrong here, My home is new and the soil is sterile (no organic material so that they can compact it to build on) as all soil around newly constructed homes so I've tried to fertilize well but my BoP plants have dried curled up edges and newly formed leaves have brown splotches and spots in the middle. My King Palms are yellowish green with brown dried tips. I can email pictures to anyone who might be able to help but I don't know how to post them with this message. Thanks
