MsMarci, I think you will be ok. Sometimes bananas can take a beating from weather that is not ideal and they can look pretty raggedy but come warm weather they will come back full strength. Even frost were to kill some of the leaves, you'd still be ok. Plus, bananas that are well established have been known to regrow even after frost has killed the entire upper portion. Just go really easy on the water during winter. Good luck!
P.S. I'm a CA man myself but i have a big ol place in my heart for Texas, best wishes for your banana and remember, good ol fashioned love is a home gardener's best secret! (not really, but is sure sounds nice doesn't it?)

Mr. Administrator, Why does the Banana Tree not sell prickly pear cactus seeds? I don't any other website that has as many seeds and Banana Tree already has many different types of cacti, so, why don't they sell prickly Pear? I know you have connections mr. administrator. I think if you put in a good word for the prickly pear cactus, they would start selling it. Make it happen, because i tell ya, its always good to have a super hero owe you a favor! ~nananananananana plantman!

Hey Joe, I think I can help you out. From what i know, it is ok to cut down the old stalks after you harvest the fruit bunch. In doing this though, you do not dig out the base which has the root mass attached to it, you simply cut the stalk about a foot or two from the bottom. However, I have read studies that say you get better production from the suckers if you let the old parent die and dry up on its own before cutting it down. I think many people like to cut them right away because they look ugly while they are dying and also because of a lack of space. Well, i hope that helped. Good luck.

I cut down a large bunch of bananas today and even though i was slightly dissapointed, at least they will make good banana splits! Yeah, thats right, many of my bananas were splitting open as they grew, some even began to split when they were still green! Does anyone know why a banana would split open? Could it be over-watering or lack of a specific nutrient? Somebody...please...help......

From what i've read, Lady Finger is supposed to be very sweet, but the bunch i just cut today were not as sweet as those in the store. Does anyone know if this is normal? I noticed that The Banana Tree dosen't sell the Lady Finger cultivar, could this be why? Mr. Administrator, do you know anything about this?
