Michael, Thanks for the reply. If you or someone else could check out these 2 pictures of my bananas before they got mature and the trees from early spring to let me know the type I would appreciate it. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d79/brbabb2004/DSCN2184.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d79/brbabb2004/9a30c500.jpg
Thanks, Brent

I posted a topic about my trees on the forum for How to grow and realized I made a mistake so I am now posting it here. I have some bananna trees that have produced what I believe to be mature fruit. However I do not know the kind of tree I have. Can you eat any bananna tree fruit or is some of it poisonous? If someone could send me their e-mail address I could send them a couple pictures and maybe you can tell me what kind of trees I have. Thanks!!!

I have been growing bananna trees for about 3 years and I just now have gotten some fruit that seems to be mature enough to eat. However, I do not know if I can eat it. I do not know the kind of Bananna tree I have. Are all bananna tree fruits ediable but some are good and some are not? Are any of them poisonous? If someone would please send me their e-mail address I will be glad to send a couple pictures and maybe you can help me figure out the kind of tree I have and if the fruit is ediable.

Are you saying that the tree will not produce fruit if there are suckers growing? If so then how do you get the suckers with out digging the tree up? The weather can get down to the single digits around here with snow and ice. Therefore, I have to dig them up. I seperate the sukers when I did them up for the winter. I try to break them from the bulb saving as many roots as possible. I would like to post a picture of my smaller trees but do not know how. If anyone knows how to attach a picture please let me know.

From all the forums I have read I am still wandering what kind of trees I do have. My banana trees seem to get well over 9 feet. I have only had one to produce fruit but, it was late in the season right before a frost. Needless to say the fruit did not mature before I had to dig the trees up. This spring most of my trees will be at least 3 years old so I should get some fruit. I want to post a picture but since I am new to the site I can not figure out how. Would some tell me how to post a picture or send me a private message so I can send you a picture of my tree or trees? Thanks!!!!! Brent
