Heliconia are grown for their colorful flowering bracts and upright banana -
like leaves which are sometimes rather slender and with some varieties extremely large. The flowering bract may be upright or pendulous depending
on variety, and may have the shape of a lobsters claw, or birds beak, or a fan shape. They are all tropical.
