This sought after giant grows to 40 feet and can develop a base of 20 inches wide. It is not as cold hardy as the Musa Basjoo but in the mountainous forest region of South China it routinely has had temperatures around 28F degrees. More attractive than Basjoo, this vigourous grower develops a powdery blue-green coating over much of the trunk and leaf petioles which remains for several years until eventually turning a pinkish-bronze color. Its blunt shaped fruits are pink to light purple. The fruit is not considered edible. Fertilize this variety lightly with every watering. NOT FOR EXPORT.
