In some regions Cassabanana is grown as an ornanmental and the fruits are kept for a lengthy period because of their long lasting fragrance. In warm regions, if planted near a tree the vine can climb to a considerable height. It is frequently planted to grow over a trellis. It is an edible fruit in many tropical regions where it is usually sliced thin, or imade into jam or preserves, or cooked as a vegetable in soup and stews.
