| A small hardy Colombian specie with 5 angled fruits, pale yellow with occassional shades of purple, red or orange. The taste can be quite variable - sweet with a hint of apple, yet may also be astringent and barely edible. It is found in a high elevation humid forest region where it reaches 15' to 20'. The trunk is grey and upright. It is dioecious (both male & female flowers), the flowers being sometimes red or purple red or green petioles. It bears heavily.
