| Rich maroon - red new foliage darkens to purple - red, or black in summer and becomes rich - red purple in the fall. Its flowers are purple - red. Grows 15' - 20' and is hardy to zone 6. |
Germination for: COTINUS coggygria atropurpurea
Because of the very hard seed coat the seeds should be given a 24 hour soak in hot water which can cool overnight. Plant at a 3/8" depth in well
draining soil mix.Avoid wet or heavy soils. Keep damp and in bright light. If growing outdoors in cooler zones you can cover with a sawdust type of mulch.
