| This large tropical tree growing to 160' and develops many thin buttresses extending to 30'. Meanwhile the trunk is covered with spines to a 9' height. Its 6" leaves are digitately compound. The flowers are rosy yellow and fragrant in dense clusters. Soft cottony fibers develop from the leathery fruits. Commercially known as Kapok. |
Germination for: CEIBA pentandra "Silk Cotton tree"
Plant at 1/2" depth using well draining soil mix. Keep warm - lightly moist ( not wet ) and in full sun.
