Growing Instructions & Tips: |
| This water lily develops a pad with a 3' diameter and produces large fragrant pink flowers. The seed and the rhizome are edible. Although tropical it can be grown in cooler zones if the rhizome can be covered and protected sufficiently to keep from freezing. The hard seedcoat requires scarification, germination in 15 days. The seed or the root section should be anchored to bottom of pool. |
Germination for: NELUMBO nucifera "Sacred Water Lily"
Carefully file the rounder end of the seed. Place into a glass of water. Germination usually takes less than 15 days. Transplant to larger container as needed. Eventually transplant to final place ( pond / watergarden ) and be sure to anchor the roots.
