| This is a fascinating dwarf evergreen shrub from Chile. It can crow to 3 1/2' in clumping mounds of branches laden with small green oval leaves and will produce 2" rosy pink fleshy berries - insiped to the taste but they are colorful and unique. When established the flowering occurs in Hardy to zone 7. Usually flowering April to May in racemes of white with pink. NOTE: The seeds are very small and must be sown as soon as received. smaller tan |
Germination for: GAULTHERIA pumila
Seeds have been stratified and should be planted as soon as received. Place where it will receive fresh air. Sow the small seeds on the surface of a sandy-peaty soil mix. Keep damp. Place in bright light or semi-shade. Requires acid soil - you may fertizize lightly with an acid type fertilizer with each watering period. Germination is usually 8 weeks but may take much longer.
