SOLD OUT _ NOT AVAILABLE AGAIN UNTIL NOVEMBER 2008. A desirable ornamental plant from Chile. It begins growing as a vine to 8' before the stem thickens and it starts developing into a tree. Flowering is December to February with. The individual flowers are male or female with both on same plant. It develops sausauge - like fruits which are deep purple, 2" to 3" long, sweet and pulpy, and may be eaten cooked or raw. The tree is hardy to zone 9 and is frost tender. It should grow in bright light with acid, well draining soil and kept moist. Requires a long hot summer to be able to bear fruit. |
