Often seen on the seaward fringe of Mangrove forests. When it's bracts ripen the seeds within begin to germinate. The seeds that we ship must be planted immediately using a moist soil medium. The wedge shaped seeds are 1/2" long and are unlike the long 8" cylindrical shaped seeds of the Red Mangrove. The tree matures at 50' but indoor hobbiests will prune the tree to keep it short and manageable. In nature it does not produce stilt roots, instead it makes dense colonies of finger-like breathing organs - ( pneumatophores ) projecting 3" above the mud at low tide.
