| An immensely popular broad leaved "palm" that produces large boat shaped leathery leaves which hint to the fact that it is a relative to the banana and not to the palm. It can attain a height of 90' with a tall, stout thick trunk with the broad leaved foliage resting above in fan-like rows as seen in photo. The colorful seeds are covered with a bright blue fibrous sheath. Tropical. |
Germination for: RAVENALA madagascariensis "Travelers Palm"
Using well draining soil mix, plant at 1" depth. Keep warm and damp and in bright light. Fertilize monthly.
