Growing Instructions & Tips:
The seeds have been stratified. Plant at a depth of 3/8" using loamy soil with about 10% coarse sand added to it. Keep only lightly moist and in a semi- shaded area. The seed may be quite slow to germinate taking up to one or two years. Cover the area with mulch in winter.

Grows upright in pyramidal form to 50". Slow growing. The upright Japanese Yew is one of the most popular of the species. The thin leaves are distichous, upswept and banded yellow-green beneath. It is hardy to zone 5. The compound Taxol is derived from the tree, used in fighting tumors in breast, colon & lungs and a coating is used on the stents used in artheroscopy ( heart ).
