Of Polynesian origin, this slender beauty grows to 14' and produces blunt shaped fruits similar to the Hua Moa. The leaves are burgandy beneath, and this color matches its red/pink pseudostem and petioles. The pulp of the fruit is a salmon/pink color with a flavor that is pleasantly sub acid and apple-like. For a special treat it may be tried cooked with cinnamon and brown sugar - as can the Hua Moa variety. Not for export. |
