Similar to A. quinata with slender twining vines but leaves tend to being broadly elliptic and the flowers are smaller and unscented. When planted with another specie of Akebia cross pollination will occur which is needed to develop the sausage - like 4"-5" fruits. May be grown in full sun or partial shade. All Akebia species retain their attractive leaves through most of the winter, are excellent for growing on walls, fences, trellis.Hardy to 24 degrees. |
