| SOLD OUT - NEXT HARVEST IS UNCERTAIN. DO NOT ORDER AT THIS TIME. A handsome shrubby vine that is hardy to 22 degrees. In warmer zones it is evergreen. Its small purple flowers are 3 petaled and very fragrant; the leaves are digitately compound with 3-5 leaflets. Its 5" sausage shaped fruits split open when ripe revealing white gelatinous pulp with a unique tapioca -like flavor. Two varieties of Akebia must be planted in order to obtain fruits. We also offer Akebia trifoliata.- BOTH SOLD OUT AT THIS TIME - DO NOT PLACE AN ORDER. |
Germination for: AKEBIA quinata "Chocolate vine"
Lightly cover the seeds with a mixture of loamy soil and coarse sand. Keep lightly moist. May take 1 - 3 months to gernminate. Fast growing. Full sun or partial sun. Hardy to 24 degrees.
