| Also known as Mountain mahogany. This shrubby tree grows to 35' and has round lobed leaves that are 4"-6" across. Large flowers are in short racemes which may be white or in shades to purple. The flowers are edible cooked. Requires the warmth of zones 9,10. |
Germination for: BAUHINIA variegata "Orchid Tree"
Plant at 1" depth using well draining soil mix. Keep only lightly damp and always warm. Bright light. Fertilize monthly.
