This large tropical tree growing to 160' and develops many thin buttresses extending to 30'. Meanwhile the trunk is covered with spines to a 9' height. Its 6" leaves are digitately compound. The flowers are rosy yellow and fragrant in dense clusters. Soft cottony fibers develop from the leathery fruits. Commercially known as Kapok. |
