Growing Instructions & Tips:
  Up to 10', pendulous with with red cone shaped bracts having small white flowers within the bracts. Used in the cut flower industry worldwide. Grown in full sun to part shadenand plant the rhizome as asoon as received. This is the red ginger that most visitors to Hawaii remember. NOT FOR EXPORT. Germination for: ALPINIA purpurata "Red Ginger" Be sure to use well draining soil mixture. Lay the rhizome flat, or in an upright position depending on the contour of the rhizome. Cover the hizome completely and water thoroughly. Keep warm and in filtered sunlight. Water only when you have 1/2" of dryness in the soil surface. Do not keep the rhizome wet or it will rot.
