Growing Instructions & Tips: |
| This is the only Phoenix specie that bears commercial dates. Tall, slow growing to 100' with pinnate leaves to 20' having hundreds of stiff leaflets which give an airy appearance. The old leaf bases remain attached to the trunk further enhancing the rugged beauty of the palm. Grows to zone 9a. The seeds are heavy and may affect the postage cost. 1,000 seeds wilkl weigh approximately 1 lb, 11 ounces. Ouir postal chart does not compute for the heavier types of seeds. |
Germination for: PHOENIX dactylifera - "Date palm"
Plant the seeds at a depth of 1 1/2" in well draining soil mixture. Keep warm and in bright light. Keep lightly damp. Fertilize monthly.
