Originally seen in the mountains of Afghanistan covered with snow. A slow growing fan palm to 12' with thick branching stems. Always in demand. An interesting palm to be tried in cooler zones and as a landscape plant. Although it is a bushy suckering type it can be trimmed to maintain a solitary trunk. The young leaves and seeds are edible.
