Growing Instructions & Tips: |
| Grows to 30' in the tropics. May be pruned to size to make an unique indoor plant. Beautiful flowers develop from long cylindrical buds that open with a slightly explosive sound. It's 5" petals are purple and downy white within. As the petals curl back they reveal pink stamens which later are followed by 4 "leathery capsules which are filled with brownish cotton. Plants are 7" - 8" tall with a nice 1 1/2" caudexed base and heart shaped leaves. Likes bright light and warmth. Shipped bare root. |
Germination for: SHAVING BRUSH TREE - Bombax ellipticum
Use A well draining soil mixture. Be sure to firm the soil around the roots when planting. Keep warm, in bright light and with high humidity. Keep only lightly moist. Fertilize monthly with any balanced fertilizer.
